Service of evaluation of the condition of the interior of metallic pipes, HDPE, WearPro as well as other materials used in mining, energy, oil & gas, water utilities and agro industry, etc.
DESCRIPTION
The metallic pipes can present various anomalies such as deflection, corrosion, loss of thickness, incrustations, dislodgement, or bubbles in their internal lining, etc. In the case of the polymeric pipes (HDPE, WearPro) they can deteriorate internally and undergo mechanical alterations.
These anomalies diminish the transportation ability of the pipes and may produce severe operational deficiencies such as blockage and material spillage.
Maquintel uses a series of technologies which allow us to evaluate the integrity of these pipes so that the client can take corrective actions and improve their operational reliability.
Results and Benefits
Continuous interior ovality and diameter measurements within the metallic pipes
By using interior laser profilometry and 3D scanner we can continuously describe the ovality and internal diameter in any type of pipe (metallic, HDPE, etc.) The figure illustrates the internal diameter and ovality registrar measured along the metallic pipe used to drain a mining dam.
Continuous wear measurement and reduced thickness of the metallic pipes
It is possible to continuously determine the remnant thickness of the metallic pipes thanks to a combination between laser profilometry and ultrasound. Our technology allows us to measure with sub-millimetric precision. The illustration shows the continuous measurements of thickness along a metallic slurry pipeline.
Description of anomalies due to corrosion and internal incrustations
We can describe various anomalies associated to corrosion and internal incrustation within the pipes thanks to the 3D scanning tools carried by the inspection robots.
Evaluation of the condition of thermo-fusion joints in HDPE pipes
We can establish the level of wear and the condition of the thermo-fusion joints commonly used in HDPE pipes. These joints usually generate an accelerated wear pattern that is frequently the cause of fractures and spills. The regular screening of the joints allows the client to carry out remedial measures in time.
Spot thickness measurement using internal ultrasound
On many occasions it is impossible to access the external surface of the pipe to measure the thickness using ultrasound. Maquintel has developed a robotized inspection method that allows to measure the thickness from within the pipe.
Specifications of the service
Starting at 5 inches of internal diameter to unlimited size
